How we’re bridging funding gaps for families
Funding for college has been part of our mission for decades. We recognize that many students and families will confront a funding gap when pursuing their education and career goals, even after utilizing savings, federal aid, and scholarships. Our loan products, which offer competitive rates and supportive repayment options, are one tool that can assist students and families in covering the increasing costs of higher education.
In keeping with our mission, we offer three types of student loans to meet the needs of different students and families:
- Granite Edvance private student loan*, for undergraduate and graduate students who are residents of NH or attending college in NH
- EdvestinU private student loan*, for undergraduate, graduate, and international students elsewhere in the U.S., and
- EdvestinU Refinance Loan*, available to NH borrowers and beyond
Over the years, we have provided more than $5.8 billion in loans to more than 280,000 borrowers. As a NH nonprofit, we are uniquely positioned to access capital for lending (both taxable and tax-exempt) directly, and in partnership with the New Hampshire Health and Education Facilities Authority and the New Hampshire Business Finance Authority.
Proceeds from our tax-exempt financings enable us to offer discounted rates to NH borrowers. In 2024, NH students and families saved more than $540,000 in interest expense with our Granite Edvance Student Loan, when compared with our national EdvestinU private student loan. We set our loan rates to cover only our costs to provide the loan and cover a portion of the costs of the many other ways we assist NH students and families.
Repaying student loans is a long-term proposition, and circumstances change over time. To help, we also offer the EdvestinU Refinance Loan for both NH and out-of-state students, which can help simplify repayment (by consolidating multiple loans with multiple servicers into one) and lower overall payments. Our student loans are serviced on a day-to-day basis by Nelnet Servicing, LLC, one of the largest servicers in the nation. We also have a team of Customer Experience specialists based in Concord, NH, ready to help with the loan application process and any other loan-related questions. They handled more than 27,000 calls in 2024.
